The file pattern is aptly named, with vertical saw-toothed ribs. It was also used as the exterior pattern of some Scroll Embossed bowls and compotes. Almost all pieces are marigold though an occasional amethyst piece shows up. The most unusual piece is a spittoon made from the chop plate.

This graceful spittoon (above left) was made from a File chop plate mold. The only one reported. From the collection of Carl and Ferne Schroeder. Above right is an unusual File whimsey in marigold that sold in 2016 on eBay for $277.
