Open Edge Three-Row Bowl
by Carl and Eunice Booker
This celeste blue square Open Edge three-row bowl is a product of the Fenton Art Glass Company. It is not quite a true square, measuring 8 1/4 and 8 1/2 inches on the two wide sides and 6 and 6 1/2 inches on the two shorter sides. It is 3 3/8 inches at the highest point and has a base measurement of 2 7/8 inches.
These Open Edge three-row bowls may be found in the ruffled shape, with two-sides up, in the ice cream or round shape, in this square shape, and are known in a few plates. These bowls and/or plates may be found in amethyst, celeste blue, ice blue, ice green, purple, red, white, marigold, and vaseline. Not all shapes are known in all colors, however.
To add interest to this pattern, one ice blue ruffled bowl comes on a metal base and a celeste blue with two sides up is known on a metal base. A white plate had been on display in the Fenton Museum and two sales have been reported. (As of this writing on March 1, 2018, a white plate is for sale on e-Bay.)
To add a bit of interest, this bowl was found at an estate sale. Keep looking!!
