This intaglio pattern (exterior, pattern pressed in) with thistles was a very early Northwood pattern – probably first done in goofus glass (with gold and red paint on the exterior to make it look like the plant and flower when looking into it) is on very thick glass. The bowls measure about 9 1/2″ wide and 2 3/4″ tall. They have 8 large scallops on the top and a plain base with a circle (not signed with an N). The interior is plain.
